"How did your production skills develop throughout this project?"
Filming
In general, I haven't had that much experience with filming anything. The extent of it was just previous Media Studies projects or helping my sister with her Portfolio Project when she took the same class, so this was a pretty new experience for me. Things like stabilizing the shots or film and audio quality were also totally out of my field of knowledge, so I had to learn a lot of new skills very quickly to finish everything.
Editing
Editing, suprisingly, wasn’t too hard. I was able to adjust to using Adobe Premiere Pro, and was able to use editing software I was very familiar with for the more complicated parts, like importing a font or color grading. I did learn one thing about myself though- I do not like editing at all. I procrastinated on editing it so much that I missed a ton of deadlines, so now I know it’s easier to just get it out of the way as quickly as possible so you can move on.
Otherwise
One other thing I learned when it comes to producing something- I'm not a very punctual person. I like to think I can do things on time since I can work pretty fast, but when it comes to creative projects, I can only make something I'm proud of after a random burst of motivation.
I've been depending on the fact that I really like my project and want it to be completed, and that does give me a lot more energy, but the less interesting parts of creating a short film like editing or acting make me procrastinate a lot. Missing one blog post quickly spirals, and all of a sudden I have like 4 overdue posts from weeks ago that I really don't feel like doing. My production skills have definitely gotten better, but I've had to really push myself to get them to that level.
